Friday 23 December 2011

Tis the season to be jolly, but this doesn't mean any slack on the fitness front. If anything we will be upping our routine to work off those mince pies and sausage rolls. Today after a long time, I decided to get out the good ol' Bollywood workout DVD! Come on Santa baby lets shake it!!!

Merry Christmas!!
Feeling much better about the nights to come up Everest thanks to Anne lending me her 3 season Mammut sleeping bag. We both got our visa's through this week too, only 12 days to India and 7 weeks to Everest.

Wednesday 14 December 2011

Going to work looking about 12 years old today... Oh well.

It is my final week of work so I am getting my fashion on and going full on with the fundraising and BHF awareness.

£192.50!!! THANKYOU!

Last night myself (Lucy) and my mum held a Jamie Oliver Party as fundraising for the British Heart Foundation, with a fantastic consultant Ana Dobbins and 20 lovely ladies excited about kitchenware the night was brilliant!!
Altogether the money collected was £192.50!!! Absolutely amazing!!!
Around £130 was raised from a mini raffle, lucky squares game and the percentage the hosts would have got in products from the overall takings.
The the rest of the money was from generous sponsors from some very kind ladies!

I want to say a big thank you to my mum for her massive efforts towards the night, to my dad and brother for accepting the massive amounts of women coming and going and getting abit too excited about Jamie Oliver's baking trays!

This brings our donations so far to £964.72, nearly halfway!

Also I would like to thank Annie for her recent donation and Paul and Deborah Newby for donating, giving me advice and lending me an gortex anorak to protect me from those harsh elements.

Keep active

I've always know skipping is an excellent form of exercise, and decided that I wanted to make it look as effortless as boxers when they train.

So why is skipping so good?
As well as promoting fat loss and improving muscle tone, it will also help reduce the risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels. So a great exercise to keep your heart healthy!

"People of all ages who are physically active are less likely to get cardiovascular disease as those who are inactive" BHF

So this weekend try something different, pick up a skipping rope or take a long walk. But get that heart pumping and feel the benefits.

Please sponsor me and Louise to help mend broken hearts!

The heart pumping warm-up

I can't go running, so the next best warm up is dance.
With all this exercise, I seem to have more energy and never have the opportunity to let it out.
Here is a dancing moment (because i'm so cool) for Louise who I know needs cheering up.
Keep your chin up.
Lucy x

Thankyou!

More thanks to our recent donators Lu-Lu Evans, Uncle Malcolm and Alf Boiling!
HUGE THANKYOU.

INDIA

For those of you that don't know, we go to India for five weeks before our trek in Nepal starts. UCA Photography graduates were given the chance to apply for an exchange programme with (NID) National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad so we jumped on that opportunity pretty fast. These images are by Gian, one of the guys who are in India now with the first group. We really like his blog, so check it out! http://kutrokutro.tumblr.com/

More thermals and fleeces

Anne Foden

I was at work last Saturday when I met Anne Foden.

Anne is the first person I have met who has done base camp, purely by chance she noticed the poster I had out at work about fundraising. I was pretty happy as most people don't take any notice! Long story short we've exchanged emails and Anne has filled us in on what to expect when we set off. I'm particularly looking forward to the nights in the teahouses with the windows frozen on the inside! Got some photos too!

Brothers

As Lucy said, thank you to the brothers. I wouldn't have been able to stay as focused as I have been with training without Tom. So THANK YOU brother Harman xxx

Friday 25 November 2011

Big up the Brothers!

See Eric Mytton in the background of the first photo, he may look like a little baby but he has the biggest buns of steel for a 12 year old and muscles as solid as concrete. Tonight I let him put me through some training...

Above: While I am doing some backwards plank exercise, Eric hits my stomach with a football. Apparently it makes my stomach muscles stronger? I think it's payback for something!

I know Louise's brother Tom is making her work muscles she never knew she had.

Big up to the HARMAN AND MYTTON BROTHERS!
Tom, Harry and Eric!

...and relax.

Please keep donating and help mend broken hearts

Thank you!

Big thank you to Miss Rachel Mills and Miss Becky Grant for their kind donations recently!
And! We both wish Becky a HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tomorrow! xx

Street Collection: £79.39

I spent 4 hours along Gentlemens Walk in Norwich with my mum today. Me wearing the t-shirt and mum covered in balloons. Both ready with collection boxes and stickers.
Together we made £79.39, which I don't think is too bad for a first time.

Plus, bonus for my mum who had some 'sexy' market man show her a photo of his body on his phone.
While I got chatted up by the man collecting rubbish.

Thank you Norwich for your donations and Abi and Darren at Deck the Halls. Every little helps!!

RUN

The day means get up and go to work, the night means go out and run.

Hey now, take your pills and
  Hey now, make your breakfast
Hey now, comb your hair and off to work
Crash land, no illusions, no collision, no intrusion
My imagination run away.
Enjoy some R.E.M.

Want

Baby got back...

Being such a prominent and well recognized body part, it’s easy to forget the fact that your butt performs very important muscular functions. There are 3 main muscles in each of your buttocks: Gluteus Maximus, Gluteus Medius and Gluteus Minimus! These are the muscles that are going to get us to the top! No joke, power is in the butt! The bigger the better! So get on a bike! or get doing some squats and then roll around on the floor in pain after.

Devoted to Roy Agyei!

Full of surprises as usual, this is Roy pulling up his pants after giving me a lap dance that obviously I was totally comfortable with! Well, kind of ;) Thank you for giving us £50.00 big ones! You are a legend. End. xxx

More Thank you's!

Mary Dymond! and My Aunty Kerry and family! We are rolling up to the £500.00 mark now! xxx

Thank you Mr and Mrs Spencer!

Thanking the new Mr and Mrs Spencer! I didn't get a chance before to do a decent post! See you soon Lovebirds :) Lou xxx

OUR FLIGHT

To start our trek we have to fly to a place called Lukla. This airport has a reputation for being one of the most dangerous in the world, the runway is at a 12 degree angle and at the end is a 700 meter drop. I'm pretty much going to be singing Disney songs and calling for my mum when the engine starts. I'm hoping Lucy has already made the decision as to which colouring in book she will be bringing to keep me occupied. For now though, here is a great video (despite its title) of a take off from Lukla.

STUFF JUST GOT SERIOUS

We've got head torches... and we are not afraid to use them. Looking forward to getting these bad boys out for some rambling around in the dark up on that big hill they call 'Everest'

Bags, Boots and Rab

The essentials for the trek are a good down jacket, sturdy boots and a pretty big bag.

Your probably all wondering why I'm not a professional model!
And although that massive hood looks pretty silly,  it will come in very handy at high altitude.
"If you are not active, you are more likely to have a heart attack than someone who is active. Being active provides long term benefits for you heart health and general health." BHF
With that in mind I'm off for a bike ride in this mild month of November- minus the boots, bag and jacket

Sunday 30 October 2011

THANK YOU!

Thank you very much to Jessica Marsh, Maria Kapajeva and Bim Hjortronsteen for your donations and support on the 103rd day to Everest!!! You've made us very happy! Special thanks to Maria for linking us on UCA's Fotofolios news page http://fotofolios.org/news

Night Running by the beach

The icy wind has been hitting the back of my lungs the last few nights, it feels pretty harsh at first but by the end of it I'm feeling pretty refreshed! Rab jacket is already coming in handy...

Been there, done that, got the t-shirts...

Crazy about exercise

"Being active provides long term benefits for your heart health and general health. It helps control weight, reduce blood pressure and cholesterol and improve your mental health - helping you look and feel great"

How are we getting on?

In preparation for the trek myself and Louise have changed our active lifestyles and made exercise a regular part of our daily routine.

Currently living 180 miles apart from each other don't have the opportunity to train together, but we make sure we remain motivated.

Training so far has involved cycling, running, swimming and general pumping iron. Our hearts are definitely noticing the improvement and the British Heart Foundation is right in saying that you feel great after it.

The Dumb and Dumber Moment

It was a dumb and dumber moment when Lucy and I decided Everest would be the next sensible step after graduating, the initial joke about this challenge lasted all of sixteen seconds before we were actually getting our calculators and bank cards out. We might not be driving around in a van disguised as a fluffy hound like Harry and Lloyd but fun times are to come...

This link is for you Mytton because I love you like Harry loves Lloyd x
